’■ The South African meat contract expires, on 31st March. Mr Seddon has informed the Press Association that particulars of the new contract have been advertised in the colony. The response is not yet ascertainable. The Premier is communicating with the officer commanding in South Africa and Lord Milner on the subject. The AgentGenerai is also in communication with the Colonial Office and the War Office, and has telegraphed to the Secretary of State Tor the Colonies (the Right Hon J. Chamberlain) with reference to the matter. ’The contract which is on the point of terminating is that entered into by the War Office with Mr Bergl.
