OTAGO PRODUCE MARKET. Oats. —We are pleased to report that during the past week there has been considerable activity in the market. Somewhat exaggerated reports as to the advance in prices have appeared during the past few days, which were not borne out by Monday’s selling values. There is, however, a decidedly stronger tone. Prime quality is readily saleable at an advance of Id to l|d per bushel, and medium discoloured sorts, if sound and suitable for shipment, at 2d per bushel in excess of late quotations. We quote: Seed li' 10 '’* 2s 8d to 2s lOd; prime milling, Gid to 2s 8d; best feed, 2s
5d to 2s 6£d; good, 2s 4d to 2s sd; medium, 2s to 2s 3d per bushel (sacks extra),
Wheat.— Millers’ requirements are chiefly confined to prime milling qualrty, for which tihere is a fair demand on the basis of late values. For other sorts there is moderate demand at prices which show no alteration. Wo ■Quote: Prime milling, 3s lOd to 4s 3d; medium, 3s 2d to 3s 9d; whole fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id; broken and damaged, 2s 6d to 2s 10d per bushel (sacks extra).
Potatoes.—Local stocks are now much reduced,. and any fresh consignments meet with* better demand, and are readily quitted.. We quote: Best Derwents, £3 5s to £3 10s; choice, to £3 15s; medium to good, £2 10s to £3 per ton (bags in). Chaff.—Prime oaten sheaf is offering sparingly, and commands ready sale at prices fully equal to late values. The market is well supplied with chaff of medium quality, which is not greatly m favour with buyers, and is difficult to quit at late values. We quote: Prime oaten sheaf, £4 5s to £4 12s El • good, £3 15s to £4 2s Gd; medium’ £3 to £3 10s; inferior and straw chaff, L- to £2 15s per ton (bags extra).
SYDNEY, August 19. At the fat stock sales yesterday sixty New Zealand fat wethers were sold at prices ranging from 31s to 335. Some lots were withheld in consequence of the decline in prices.
