A PRINCE OF PIGS.

The Nazeing pig, which weighs Dost., was the subject of a dispute at Epping Petty Sessions on December 6,‘when the owner, Miss Emily Hampton, was summoned for keeping the animal in a manner dangerous to the public health. The inspector of nuisances said the pig was kept in a four-roomed cottage in which the defendant and her father also resided. The animal had a room to itself. The inspector found it lying on an enormous feather bed, which he said was the largest he had seen in his life.—it was 9ft. long. The animal was lying between clean sheets, and was covered with an elaborate white lace counterpane. It was evidently used to such luxury, for it was calmly sleeping with its head resting on a snow-white pillow. The -oom was “furnished like a parlour, with illuminated texts on the wall." The inspector said he did not read the texts, but he noticed that Miss Hampton went down on her knees and kissed the pig, anc j called it a “naughty hoy” because it had eaten a small portion of its pillow. Miss Hampton went into the box and said she had reared the pig from its earliest infancy. It was now four years old, and had been brought up and educated to act “like a Christian.” wnen it was only a few weeks old she ted it and nursed it and lulled it to seep m a little bed at the side of the nre. Vi hen it was a “boy pig" she made a bed for it on the sofa. Later she had made for it the bed on which the inspector saw it reposing. The pig went tbs ri or three times during hiowf-i.
