OBITUARY.
A graceful tribute to the merhory of the late Mr George Friend was paid by the great number of friends that attended his funeral, which left his late residence on Thorndon quay at 9.15 on Tbursdiy mtjUniog. The principal mourners were Miss Friend and Mr 3 J. IS. Fitzgerald, Sir Maurice O’Borkc, the permanent officers of the douse of Bepre* Bentatives and Mr Curnin, Parliamentary draftsman. Among the others in the procession were the Premier, Captain Bussell arid members of both Upper and Lower Houses, vlr Amelius Smith, the Hon T. W. Hialop, Hr Martin, Mr Grattan Gray and Mr 0. G. N. Barron. Deceased was interred at the Karori Cemetery, where the Kev M£ Dasent conducted a service in the mortuary chapel add. at the graveside. Among the numerous floral offerings sent were wreaths from the Speaker and officers of the House, Mr and Mrs Ottersou, Mr W. Watson, Mr B. M. Simpson, D and Mrs Grace, members of the Ministry, Private Secretaries to Ministers, the “ Hansard ” staff, Committee Clorks of the House, and the Karori Cricket \Mub Mr Edwin Hosketh, the well - known solicitor, formerly of the firm of Hesketh and iiickmond, died at Auckland on Saturday.
