By the courtesy of the chairman and direotors of. the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company over 100 children from St. Mary’s Orphanage were taken to Plimmerton last week by speoial train for an outing in the country. The weather, which was all that could be desired, materially contributed to the day’s enjoyment, whilst the committee, consisting of Mesdames Plimmer, McDonald and McCarthy, and Messrs Plimmer, Palmer and Aisher, did all in their power to make things pleasant for the children. Sports, &0., were indulged in by the young ones, who returned home at 5.30 p.m., tired but happy, giving three ringing oheers at the station for all those who had contributed to their amusement. - The committee s desires to thank Messrs Holliday and Co., Thomson, Lewis and Co., and Mrs McCarthy for gifts of prizes, refreshments, &0., for the young people,
