Taine and Co. report ol their horse salo on Saturday : —We had a moderate entry, and again there was an absence of good sorts with a few exceptions. Wo sold light draughts of very ordinary quality at £JO, and passed a very line dog-cart horse at £23 (reserved at £3O). Of the ordinary lot of harness hordes, all of medium quality, we sold a number from £3 to £9 10s. The balance sold were of the nondescript description. A few good sorts for spring carts would sell, and tho market next Saturday will be tested by a consignment from Hockcii Bros., of Fcilding, who generally bring what is wanted. We also expect a truck of draughts of a good class. Prior to the horse sale wo sold two cows and six heifers from Tarainki. .Most of them, being too far oil' calving, did not quite meet the wants of buyors. Heifers brought up to £5 10s and the cows .I'-;. A truck of good cows very near calving would always command a salo at this time of year, but they must be good, and up to £8 can bo got for them. Mr Matthew Henry reports of his Palmer--Bton sale:—Cattle and sheep came forward
