N.Z. NATIVES' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the New Zealand Natives' Association was held in the Exchange Isuildings last week. There was only a moderate attendance. The chairman, l)r Chappie, brought up (lie report of the committee appointed at (he previous meeting to consider the prospectus, lie said that the committee recommended among other alterations thai the membership, both ordinary and honorary, be coiiltncd to native horn N'ew Zealnnders. Mr Bridge then moved-" Tha! the board of directors be the Colony consist of a president, four vice-presidents, treasurer, secretary and seveu members; one of tho vice-presidents to represent Wellington, and one each fm.' Otago, Canterbury and Auckland. That until the rules were adopted the board of directors carry on the business on the lines laid down in tho rules of the Victorian Association.'' This was agreed to. Dr Chappie was then unanimously elected president. At this stage a discussion took place on tho advisableness of proceeding with the election of the other officers in view of tho small attendance. Mr J. Wilkio proposed that the mooting stand adjourned until next Wednesday, to see if there would be a better attendance. lie did not think it would bo advisable to
proceed with the Association unless more enthusiasm was shown.
After one or two speakers had expressed themselves as opposed to an adjournment, the motion was put and carried.
