THE EXHIBITION.
A meeting of the executive Committee of the Wellington Industrial Exhibition wis held last week at the secretary's oliice. Present—Messrs S. lirown (president), J. It was decided to have, enquiries made into the matter before the next meeting. The Musical Committee reported that a sub-committee had been appointed to see if the baud contests can be held in contu ction with the Exhibition, without throwing any liability on the Exbibil.K>naethorities. A circular asking the help of the local musicians had gone out and oilers of help were now coming in. Tho following recommendations were made by tho committee :—(1) That the Wellington Cricket Association lie urged at once to endeavour to arrange for a visit of the Australian cricket team during the Exhibition, and to make the coming cricket season as attractive as possible by arranging interprovincial matches at "Wellington ; (2) that the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club be asked to co-operate in eudeavouring to secure the holding of the next New
I Zealand championship meeting in Wollington'during the Exhibition ; (3) that a similar request to the last bo addressed to the ! tennis authorities. The report was adopted. I Mr J. R. Triggs, of Christchurch, was appointed an additional representative for | Canterbury on the executive, his name j having been inadvertently omitted prei viously. Messrs T. Cook and Sons wrote stating that the committee would bo in noway I committed by appointing the firm official i tourist agents, and pointing out the ' publicity they would be able to give to the ; Exhibition, it was decided to appoint tho j firm official tourist and general passenger ; agents to tho Exhibition. It was decided that bicycles partially made in tho Colony or bicycles in motion wouldjbo admitted to the Exhibition. Accounts amounting to £3B 15s (id were passed for payment. Plans of the front elevation and of the ground plan of the Exhibition building were 1 placed before tho committee, and it was ! decided to have, 100 copies lithographed for I distribution.
