WELLINGTON TROTTING CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETING. Tho Wellington Trotting Club was favoured with beautiful weather for tho first day of its Autumn Meeting at Miramar on April 29. The track was very heavy by roason of tho previous night's rain, consequently tho time in all tho events was slow. The attendauco was not largo at tho commencement of tho proceedings, but later on there must have been about GO) people presont. Speculation on tho machine, which was in charge of Mr F. N. Jones, was not brisk, there being only a solitary investor on the first event, and he, not being on tho winner, had tho consolation of receiving back 18s. The sum of JCS3S was put through the machine. Tho chief event, the Wellington Trotting Club Handicap was a moral for Alice, who won as she liked. A protest was entered against Blusnose, tho first horse in the Ponv Handicap (harness), by the owner of I'eanty. on tho ground that Mr Taiawliio to Tau had taken part in an unregistered meeting. The protest was upheld, and tho race awarded to Mr Mason's Beauty. The duties of tho officials were carried out in r. highly satisfactory manner, and although the fourth event was got off nearly an hour behind the advertised time, in consequence o: the delay caused by the protest, tho remainder wore started with such punctuality tha' the last event was only fifteen minutes late Mr J. Tho Wellington Trotting Club was again favoured with, fine weather for the second day of tho Autumn Mooting hold at Miramar on Saturday. Tho track was in good order, consequently hotter tiino was made in many of the events than on tho first day. The investments on the machine wore much in excess of those on Wednesday, no doubt duo to tho action which had boon taken by the stewards in enforcing tho rules preventing bookmakers laying odds, and also the reduction of tho price of tickets on the totalisator. There were two machines working, tho investment on the inside one being ,£1 for tho first race and 10s for tho remainder of tho events, that on tho outside being 5s for all tho events. vestments added. The total amount put through the machino was £931 15s, which was nearly £ 100 bettor than Wednesday. Mr J. A. Connoll ofiiciated as startor.
