At a special meeting of the stewards of the Masterlon-Opaki Jockey Club on Monday it was decided to alter tho date of the race mooting from June 4th to May 29th on account of the former date necessitating welter weights. The programme of the meeting appears in another column. Nominations for all events close with the secretary on Wednesday, 13th, at it p.m. The racehorse .Merino, owned by Mr Livingstone, was brought up by the 'Tasmania from Lyttelton last week. Tho racehorse The Ace, owned by Mr Thomas, arrived here on Saturday from Nelson by the Mawhcra. The Ace is on his way to Sydney, where he is nominated for several races.

If a permit can bo obtained, the Wellington Racing Club will hold a Steeplechase Meeting during the session of Parliament. Tho Masterton-Opaki Jockey Club have decided that a race meeting be held on J urn; 4th, the programme having been passed by the Metropolitan Club. Tho annual Hack Meeting of the Ota-ki Maori Racing Club is Lo be held on tho 25th inst, and, as will be seen by advertisement in another column, an excellent programme has been prepared. Nominations for all handicaps close at 9p.m. on Saturday next. Secretaries of Racing Clubs are reminded that Illustrated Cards and Programmes can be printed at the New Zealand Times Office at two hours' notice.
