CONFERENCE OF COMMANDANTS.

Sydney, February 5. Tlie Conference of Cariimaudaiits has finished its labours.

They have recommended the immediate adoption of the Lee-Metfor*l rifle so as to bring tlfe colonial forces into line with tlie Imperial Hoops. They have also further revised and reCoiilmended for adoption a draft of a Federal defence agreement on the lines laid down by the Military Conference held in TSOI. The commandants will submit confidential reports to their respective Governments. ThC arrangements for the military federation are now practically completed, and only await Parliamentary sanction.
