TUESDAY'S PROPERTY SALE.
There was a large attendance at Messrs Harcourt and Co.'s on auction sale, held Tuesday under instructions from the Realisation Board of the Bank of New Zealand Estates Company. The first property submitted was the terrace of brick buildings in Mowbray street, but this not reaching the reserve was passed in. For the large residence in Tinakori road, in the occupation of Mr Parfitt, the bidding started at .£IOOO, and rose by bids of .£SO to £IBSO, at which price it was passed in, but since the sale a better offer has been received by the auctioneers, which will in all probability be accepted. The Lambton quay premises tenanted by Messrs Warnock and Adkin and the site of the Lion Foundry elicited no bids. For the Boulcott street residence, known as St. Elmo, there was keen bidding, but as it did not rise to the figure required bj r the Company, it was withdrawn, as also were the adjoining building sites. The section with a frontage of 132 ft to Upper Willis street and large house, in the occupation of Mrs Weston, aroused some competition, and, although not sold at the auction, it will probably be disposed of privately in the course
of the day. Thejcorner building site in Willis street was -withdrawn. The last four lots, namely, the acres at Berhampore, were those most in demand, and the prices were obtained without difficulty. Acre No. 1040 fell to Mr F. G. Bolton at J 2300. No. 1013, starting at ,£IOO, ran rapidly up to «£350, when Mr J. J. Boyd became the purchaser. No. 1014, after spirited competition, fell' to Mr li. Keene, at .£305, and part of acre 1015, with frontage of 23ft to Adelaide road, was sold at £230 to Mr A. J. Hind. Several of the unsold lots will probably find buyers within the next few daysbeing now in the hands of the auctioner.-* for private sale at the reseivo prices.
