DIAMONDS. A MOUNTAIN OF LIGHT. The great diamond, called the Kohinoor or mountain of light, was found in the mines of Golconda in 1550; after passing through various hands, it was presented to Her Majesty Queen Victoria in 1849. Owing to the unskilfulness of the artist who was engaged to cut it, the original weight of nearly 800 carats was reduced to 279 carats. Its value is over <£2,000,000 sterling, but even at this high estimate it cannot be compared in value to the invention of Wolfe’s Schnapps, of which over a million bottles are sold annually in Australasia. Think of the medicinal value to millions of those who suffer and have suffered for the past half century, and ask yourselves whether Wolfe’s Schnapps has not proved itself of greater value than the Kohinoor Diamond. 9
