MANCHESTER NOVEMBER HANDICAP.

From Our Own Correspondent. London, December 1

Flat racing came to an end at Man Chester last Saturday afternoon, when the November Handicap of 1500 sovs attractei nine'een runners, and was made the medium of some heavy betting. Sir R. Jardine’s Llanthony (syrs, 7st 111 b) and Mr Houldsworth’s Bushey Park (syrs, Bsb 91b) were the great public fancies, and finished up at 6 and 7 to 1 respectively. Then came Mr Gosling’s Gleamaway (4yrs, 7st 51b) at 100 to 12, and a whole host of long priced fancies. Captain Machell started two, Ravensbury (4yrs, 9st 41b) and Kilsallaghan (4yrs, Bst). The latter carried the first colours and Master Tommy Loates, whereas the steeplechase jockey Barker bestrode the top weight. There was, however, no great difference in the betting between the pair. 100 to 6 being offered Kilsallaghau, whilst 100 to 5 was Ravensbury’s price. The stable commissioner did not back either with spirit and ’twas very evident the “ Capting" had no big coup in hand.

After a long delay at the post, during which the winter afternoon closed in ; rapidly, the field got fairly off, andGlearnaway settled down with a nice lead. This he held till nearing home when the favourite rushed to the front, and for a moment or two looked formidable. Almost at once, however, Cannon had to take up his whip, and then Gleamaway once more sailed along first. At the half distance Ravensbury came with a web sail, and a pretty finish ensued. S. Loates rode his best, bub the son of Isonomy and Penitent carried too many guns for him and won by a neck, with Cypria (4yrs, Bst lib), close up, third. WINNING JOCKEYS. Mornington Cannon, after yielding the supremacy last year to Tom Loates, once a_;ain heads the list of winning jockeys with 167 triumphs out of 657 rides. Loates finishes a good second with 163 wins., but.he had Bi2 mounts. After this pair com’eS: a big gap, the third on the list, Master. Sun Loates, or as he is generally called “ Sloates," boasting only 91 victories out of 640 mounts. Finlay scores 89 wins for 612 rides, Allsopp 85 out of 654, and little Bradford 84 out of 596. Cannon’s principal classic win was on Throstle for the Leger, and Loates rode Isinglass in all his splendid victories. Little Bradford was on Aimiable in the One Thousand and Oaks, and also rode the winners of the Goodwood Stewards’ Cup, Ce3arewitch, and Derby Cup. WINNING OWNERS. For the second year in succession Mr McCalmonb heads the list of winning owners, his total being £37,674 ; Lord Itosebery comes next with £17,156, and the Duke of Portland third with £11,301.
