It is feared that a miners' ptrike will take place in the Newcastle district at the end of the year. The miners consider the hewing rate is at present low enough, and that if the colliery owners were to combine it would be a great advantage, and the latter would be able to obtain a higher selling price. Andrews has been committed for trial on a charge of using seditious language in connection with the recent shearing cases.
