COLLISION IN SYDNEY HARBOUR.

Sydney, December 18. A serious collision occurred in the harbour this evening. The tugboat Awahina run into the guardboat Princess between Middle Head and Watson’s Bay..

The latter was making the usual round of the forts, and had about fifty persons aboard, including officers with their wives and children. The Awahina struck the Princess almost kmidships, and she canted over so suddenly that 20 persons, including the captain, were thrown into the water. The captain succeeded in clambering on board again, and although the fires were extinguished by the inrush of the water, he managed, with the steam already up, to beach the vessel in Chowder Bay. Boats promptly reached the scene'of the disaster, and picked up many; but, owing to the distance from town, authentic details have not yet been received. It is believed that the daughter of Major Bridges and the daughter of Mr Bond, bank manager, are missing. Two othei of Major Bridges’ children and a number of ladies were rescued iu a very exhausted condition.
