EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Education Board was held Wednesday morning. Present —Messrs J. R. Blair (chairman), F. H. Fraser, J. Young, W. W. McCardle, F. Bradey, W. C, Buchanan, M.H.R., Dr Newman, M.H.R., and the Rev. J. Paterson.

Accounts amounting to =£4208 were passed for payment, increasing the overdraft to £5400.

An application from Miss Jessie Newton, Kaiwarra, for an extension of her Christmas holidays by ten days, was left to the chairman.

The Board agreed to the request of the Newman Committee to be allowed to alter, the school boundaries. The selection of a site for the school was left to the inspector. A committee, consisting of Dr Newman and Messrs Young and Bradey, was appointed to deal with an, application for a fence at Taita.

The Chief Inspector was instructed to report on the drainage at the teacher’s resL dence, Kaiwaiwai. . • v. , V ’’V It was decided to call for' tenders for painting the inside of the Hutt School. The question Of making additions to tlie Mangatainoka teacher’s residence was referred to the Board’s architeot. -

The architect was instructed to prepare plans of an infants’ room at Pahiatua. The Board’s carpenter was directed to report as to the removal of latrines at Mangatainoka. , . v An application for a residence at Rangitumau was deferred.

Mr Buchanan was requested to bring up a report relative to a water supply at the Waihabeke School.

The Board resolved to adhere to its former decision that Mr F. Bennett, .at present at Eketahuna, should be headmaster at Carterton. ' - • It was decided that Miss Ussher should be transferred from Clareville when a vacancy in another schooloccurs. , A report from the Director of the Technical School was referred to the Committee of Management.
