ATHLETICS.
The weekly run of the Wellington Harriers took place on Monday in the direction of Newtown. The attendance was good, but no racing was indulged in on account of the nearness of the amateur sports meeting. The road race, which wasfixed for next Saturday for Mr G. F. Campbell’s prize, has been postponed until Saturday week. The Apiti Sports Committee have secured an excellent piece of ground on Mr Donald McKenzie’s property for the New Year’s Day gathering. Auckland, November 28. At a meeting of the New Zealand Swimming Association the question of the prize values for the championships was considered, and they were fixed at JS4 each for the 100yds, 200yds, quarter-mile, halfmile, one mile, and water polo events. For the long distance dive and plunge £2> was allotted. With the exception of the small events all the championships were allotted to Christchurch as applied for, and it was decided that they be held during February or March next. The final heat of the 250yds Handicap, which the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club ordered to be run again, has been Won by Jones.
