LAND SETTLEMENT.
, The Lands Department intend to offer for,sale and for lease in perpetuity tn the 30 th of January next, a large number of sections in various parts of Southland, viz : —For sale—l 36 sections in the township of Waimatuku, l section in Riverton, 3 in Athol, 35 at Wrey’s Bush averaging half an acre each, and 5 suburban sections averaging three acres each. For lease in perpetuity—-5 village homesteads in Danielton (three and a half miles from Riverton), averaging half an acre each ; 40 village homesteads at Clifden Tillage, and 18 village horn steads at Feldwick Township, ranging from one to 14 acres each. The Blind River estate in Marlborough, which was purchased some time since by the Government under the Lands for Settlement Act, is being subdivided preparatory to being brought into the market for disposal. Some small sections on the Cheviot estate are also to be offered to the public. The Blind River estate of 5154 acres, in tlie Clifford Bay Survey district, Marlbrough county, which is the last property bought by the Government under the Lands for Settlement Act, is to be subdivided into twenty farms and to be opened for selection at Blenheim oil the 16th January on lease in perpetuity. It is expected that there will be very eager competition for these farms, as the land is of .excellent quality, and is situated only 25 'miles out of Blenheim oh the main coach road to Kaikoura. The property is bounded by Lake Grassmere, by the Starborougli rim and by Clifford and Wells’s Flaxbourne estate. The Survey Department are pre-r paring for circulation a descriptive pamphlet containing reproduced photos of portions of the-estate.
