The Gazette notifies that Ilis Excellency the Governor has approved of the disbandment of the Masterton Rifle Volunteer Corps (on its being formed into a Government Rifle Club), , and the transfer of Captain C. A. Pownall to the unattached active list.

The Horotaunga Mounted Rifles held their usual parade last week- at. Mount Cook, when there was a fair muster under the command of Lieutenant D. D. Hyde. The company were exercised in the usual manoeuvres for upwards of an hour by Lieutenant Hyde, Sergeants Capstick and G. Pringle, Corporals Brockelhurst and Pudney. Before dismissal the company orders read were as follow: — Corporal William Welsh to be actingsergeant, Private Alfred Hutson to be acting - corporal, and that tho class firing for the town contingent will take place next Tuesday morning at 4.45 at the Cadet Range, weather permitting-. The annual encampment has been postponed to February 8, 1895.
