THE EDWARDS CASE.

Sir, —If another argument were necessary for maintaining our connection with the Mother Country, the advantage of having a superior appeal to the Privy Council of Great Britain would afford it. The wisdom of this great tribunal has made that manifest by its judgment in the Edwards case. Mr Edwards played for a high stake and has lost, the Colony being the gainer. I hope, however, that the Government, although stroDg, will temper justice with mercy, and magnanimously defray Mr Edwards’ costs, although the Privy Council did not award them.—l am, &0., Quid Nunc.
