(by telegraph. —own correspondent.) Masterton, Ootober 14. Ernest Haskell, aged 16, was sentenced to one month hard labour by Messrs Pown. all and Butement, J-P.’s, this morning for larceny of a saddle. At a meeting of the Carterton Library Committee held last night a credit balance of £4O at the bank was reported. It was decided to expend that amount on new books. The Masterton Borough Couneil last night proclaimed a half holiday for the Maßterton A. and P. Show day, and refused the application of the secretary of the Carterton Society asking a holiday to be proclaimed on the Carterton Show day.
