London, October 7The lightermen have declined to join in the riverside strike. Tho lightermen, yielding to pressure, have given way and joined the strike. London, October 8. The employers have accepted BeD. Tillett’s suggestion for a conference, but adhere to their original terms. Tillett replies that it would bo batter to accept these than extend the strike. London, October 9. The strike at Carron Wharf has virtually collapsed, unless the leaders of the labour party venture on a general strike. Tho employers have refused to hold an interview with the men, and are preparing for a bight fight.

A special meeting of tho Bootmakers’ Union was held to-night to consider the new statement put forward by the Employers Association. Those present disapproved of the conditions of labour, and it was resolved to ask the master bootmakers to meet in conference with the men to arrange satisfactorily to both parties, while also enabling the masters to compete with the Auckland masters.
