(PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Nelson, July 23,

At a largely-attended meeting to-night, it was resolved that the Nelson jubilee celebration be commenced on Monday, the Ist February next, and continued five days. The proposals include a procession, sports, and fireworks on Monday ; a regatta on Tuesday, when it is hoped that two champion events will be allotted ; races on V\ ednesday and Thursday ; agricultural show on The'entries for the Nelson Poultry Show, which opens on Friday, number 510, being 160 more than last year. CHRISTCHURCH, July 28.

The S D. Parnell Memorial Committee has decided to hold a second night’s entertainment in the Drillshed on Friday. Through the efforts of Mr H. W. Potter, General Secretary, and the committee considerable interest baa been evoked in the movement. The bands at lirst required payment for their services, but after an inter view with the Committee to night they decided to attend gratuitously. They number 100 members. Auckland, July 29.

At the meeting of the Auckland Gas Company to-day a dividend of 7a Gd was declared on paid-up shares, and 3s 9d on £3 10s shares. The balance, £2270 13s lOd, was carried forward. . The Torres Straits poarl fishing fleet 13 to be reinforced by eight new luggers. The orders have been placed with ship builders at Kaipara and Whaugaroa. More orders are to follow. Waipawa, J uly 29. At the conference of Knights of Labour now sitting hete, delegates are present from Ashurst, Carterton, Danovirke, Eketabuna, Marten, Napier, Otaki, Palmerston North, Woodville, and Wellington. W. J. Hodges, saddler, of Eketahuna, filed his schedule to-day. The temperance party intend nominating E. Feist, A. C. Danniels, B. P. Perry, G. W. Woodroofe, and James McGregor as candidates for the forthcoming licensing election.
