(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Paris. March 31. An International Miners’ Congress, representing half a million British, French, Belgian, German, and Austrian miners, meets in this city to-morrow. Mr Thomas Burt, M.P. for Morpeth (England), will preside. London, March 31. Mr W. H. Smith, leader in_ the House of Commons, has approached Mr Justin McCarthy, asking him to recommend a member of his party for the Labour Commission. Mr M. Davitt is mentioned as likely to be chosen as the representative.' New York, March 31. The strike in Pittsburg for eight hours a day is being controlled by 6000 Socialists. Brisbane, April 1. The Unionists are still trailing fire-stioks through the disturbed districts, and several buildings on different stations have been burnt to the ground. Twenty-one persons have been arrested for incendiarism.
