THE HOLIDAY.

More perfect weather for the Easter Monday holiday could not . be desired, On Monday morning at an early hour ram elondß scudded across .the sky, but a fresh breeze springing up chased them away seaward, and the Ban shone out brilliantly, although throughout the day the wind was of a keen nature. The town kept high holiday, most of tho.business premises were closed, and everybody seemed on pleasure bent. In addition to the excursionists by the railway, both lines being well patronised, large numbers drove out of town to various favourite picnic spots in all sorts and con ditions of vehicles. The Druids’ gala was well patronised, and the beach at Kilbirnie was crowded during the afternoon. Fortunately the day was marked by an absencs of accidents, and the fact of the police cells being empty speaks well for the extreme soberness of holiday makers. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) There was beautiful weather for the holiday. The town was almost deserted. About 900 went by special train to the Oamnru camp, and about 300 to Fairlie Creek Races by another. 400 attended the Friendly Societies’ Sports, and picnicß took pi aco in all directions. : * Dunedin, March 30. Beautiful weather was experienced for tho holiday., being overcast but warm. The town was deserted, a number going to Oamara to see the volunteer manoeuvres; others going to Taieri Races, while the Druids Gala, which was the only attraction in town, drew a large attendance to the grounds. At Sawyer’s Bay the sports were rather tame.
