THE WAIRARAPA.

Masterton, March 12. At the ordinary monthly meeting of the Wairarapa North County Council, held this afternoon, Messrs E. Meredith, A. Renall, and John Hesaey, as a deputation, requested the services of the County Engineer for a preliminary survey for a high-pressure water supply from the Waingawa River. The application was granted. Should the report prove favourable, a pubiio meeting will be held to consider the advisability of raising a loan. Masterton, March 18. The sports held at Eketahuna yesterday in aid of the Masterton hospital were well attended. T. Thompson and R. Gray won the principal events. The Catholic sports

and concert held here yesterday wore very successful. Miss M. Cimiuo, of Wellington, who was to have taken part in the oonoert, through her dress catohing in a form was thrown heavily to the ground and rendered unconscious, in addition to being out about the face rather severely.
