THE CONDEMNED WOMEN.
♦ (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, February 27. A petition to the Governor in favour of a commutation of the sentence of death on the women Flanagan was signed by several leading residents of Lyttelton to-day. The ground of the petition is that in thejopinion of the petitioners the claims of justice would be met and sooiety sufficiently protected if their sentence were changed to imprisonment for life.
