FIXTURES, March 14th, 'Wellington Amateur Athletic Glib Autumn Sports. At the meeting of the Committee of tho Wellington Amateur Athletic Club last week the arrangements for the sports to be held on the 14th inst. wore made, and tho following new members were elected Messrs O. A. Tringbam, H. T. Anderson, R. Ellis, F. Murrison, D. Skinner, A. Barber, W. Badden, and Hood. It was mentioned that H. Batger’a record of 16.1-sthsec for 120yds hurdles and O. McCormiok’B put of 35ft 7in with the 161 b weight have been passed by the Association. At a meeting of the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, held last week, the following resolution was carried ro the proposed visit of an athietio team to England :—That this Committee is of opinion that the proposed visit to England is at present prematore, and they would endorse the opinion of the Dunedin Amateur Athietio Club to that effect; but at the same time, in the event of the majority of the delegates to tho Association deciding in its favour, this Club will do all in its power to assist. They would also express the opinion that in the event of the visit being postponed for a year it would have a much greater chance of success. They are also of opinion that the sending of a manager for the team is unnecessary.” The entries for the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club’s autumn sports meeting, to take place on the Basin Reserve on Saturday, the 14th instant, were received on Wednesday. There aro 15 for the 100yds maiden, 25 for tho 100yds handicap, 23 for the 250yds handicap, 23 for the 440yds handicap (Ladies’ Bracelet), 5 for the 120yds hurdle handicap, 21 for the one mile handicap, 20 for the half-mile handicap, 2 for the high jump, 4 for the long jump, 4 for patting the weight, 3 for the one mile maiden bicycle race, 8 for the three-miles bicycle handicap, 8 for the one mile bicycle handiaap, and 13 for the 250yds college boys’ handicap (3 from Wellington College and 10 from St. Patrick’s College). There being only one entry each for the pole jump and the two miles safety bicycle handicap, those events have been struck out of the programme. The total of the entries received is 196. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, February 28. The Amateur Athietio Club, without wishing to discourage the English tour, decided to suggest a postponement till next year. Public feeling outside is very favourable to the proposal.
