DUNEDIN HARBOUR BOARD.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, September 25. At a meeting of the Harbour Board to-day it was stated that the Western Australian authorities were in communication with the Board with reference to the purchase of the big dredge, which had just returned from Melbourne. It was decided to post up the provisions in the by-laws aa to obstructing traffic, &c., on the wharves, so as to bring them under notice, as there was an evident impression that everyone had full right to assemble on the wharves, whioh were under the control of the Board. The ActingChairman said he learned from men on board the steamers that Dunedin was the only port in the Colony where adequate provision had not been made to protect free labourers going to and from work. It was decided to set the big dredge to deepen the lately-formed channel in the Lower Harbour to 24ft at low water, and make it uniform with the depth on the bar.
