SUICIDE BY A DUNEDIN SOLICITOR.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, April 20. Mr A. S. Hay, a well known solicitor, committed suicide this afternoon by cutting his throat. . ... Latest particulars state the suicide appears to have been most determined. He was living with hia sister, who left him in the house. On returning she found that he had taken a basin to hold the blood, and then hacked away at his throat with a blunt knife, the basin being fnll of blood. He appears then to have gone to the bath-room, where the bath was found with the blood and water mixed. Miss Hay at once procured medical aid, and though, when the doctor arrived, Hay was pulseless, he tore away at the wound with his nails. He died shortly afterward. He was a single man, and it is supposed he committed the rash act while suffering under some strong delusion.
