LAYING THE FOUNDATION STONE OF ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH, GREYMOUTH.

(united press association.) Gp-eymouth, April 17. Bishop Redwood, this afternoon, laid the foundation stone of the new church of St. Patrick with all the ceremonies usual on such an occasion, and delivered an impressive address. A collection followed, when £l4O was received in cash, and £3O promised. The Bishop, before the collection, read out the names of those who had subscribed most liberally. The sutnsjranged from £4O down to £2O. The Bishop himself gave £25, and Father Carew £lO. The contractor presented the Bishop with a very handsome silver trowel. There were about 400 persons present. The church will be of brick, and will have a tower.
