By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (reotkr’s telegrams.) Ottawa, April 14. The Canadian Parliament was opened to-day by the Marquis of Lansdowne, the Governor-General. In his speech on the occasion Lord Lansdowne stated that the negotiations between the Canadian and United States Governments relative to the fisheries disputes were progressing, and hopes were entertained that an honorable and satisfactory settlement would result therefrom. Meantime measures would be taken to protect the Canadian inshore fisheries.
