AN ABSCONDING FEMALE.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Timaru, March 28.

Eliza Whitter ha 3 been arrested here. She is said to have absconded from bail in Dunedin. She left that city a few days age in the s.s. Omapere, visiting Oamarn. On the way there she acquired £7 sterling, and came on the way to Timaru rejoicing. Here it is alleged she stole £3O worth of jewellery, which she tied up- in a handkerchief and put through the parcels post, addressed to Mrs Berryman, Christchurch. The police went on the scent, but the Pbstmaster refused to deliver the articles without an order from the Postmaster-General. The woman was remanded.
