The barque Theodore, which left New York on July the 30th, arrived at Lyttelton, via St. Thomas, at noon last Friday, after a somewhat protracted voyage. The ship Dunedin, from London, arrived there also at 7 o’clock last Friday evening. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Te Anau left Melbourne at 5 pm on the 4th inst, called at Hobart, and arrived at the Bluff on the 10th. She left the Bluff on the same day, Dunedin on the 11th, Lyttelton at 5.30 pm on the 13th. and arrived here at 6.30 am last Friday. She sailed for Sydney, via Auckland and East Coast, last Friday evening. The ss Macgregor left Onehunga at 3.40 pm on the 13th, New Plymouth 12 pm on the 14th, Wanganui at 1.30 pm on Saturday, and arrived here at 3.30 am on Sunday. She experienced fine weather and smooth sea throughout. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Australia left Auckland on January 11th at 6 pm ; called at Awanui, Tuparoa, Tologa Bay, Gisborne, Napier, and arrived at Wellington at 2 pm on SundayShe experienced light variable winds with smooth sea from Auckland to Cape Palliser, thence strong head wind with moderate sea to arrival.

The ss Herald left Dunedin at 7 pm on the llt.h instant; called at Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton; left the latter place at 6 pm on the 14th, and arrived here at 4 pm on Saturday. She sailed for Greymouth on Monday. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Grafton left Westport afc 2 am on the 15th, called at Nelson, and arrived here on Sunday morning. Experienced fineweather to the Strait, thence strong N.W. winds to arrival, and sailed for South on Sunday afternoon. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Manapouri, from Sydney, via East Coast ports, arrived at 10.30 am on Sunday. She left Sydney on the 6th inst, arrived at Auckland on the 12th ; sailed again on 13th at 3 pm, and after calling at Gisborne on the 14th, and Napier on the 15th, took her departure from the latter port at 4 pm on the same day. She rounded Capa Palliser at 7.20 am. on the 16th, arriving as above. She experienced heavy gales, veering from E.S.E. to E.N.E. with high sea, from Sydney to New Zealand coast, thence fine weather from Auckland to arrival. She sailed for Melbourne, via South, on Monday afternoon. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Koranui arrived here from Greymouth, Nelson, and Picton at 4.30 am on Sunday. She sailed for South on Sunday evening. The ss Huia left Wanganui at 3 pm on the 17th, and arrived here at 6.30 am next day. She experienced strong head winds during the passage. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Mahinapua left Dunedin on the 14th instant, Timaru on the 15th, Akaroa on the 16th, Lyttelton at 2.30 pm on the 17th, and arrived here at 9.30 am on Tuesday. She sailed for Nelson and Westport on Tuesday evening. The s Wainui arrived here from Lyttelton at 11.30 am on Tuesday, after a sixteen hours’ passage. She sailed for Greymouth in the evening. Another steamer, the Waitaki, has been put on in the Wellington and Auckland, via East Coast, trade. The Waitaki is expected here from Auckland on Saturday, and returns on Monday. Messrs Johnston and Co. are her agents.

Tlie schooner Cora, from Lyttelton, arrived here at 11 am on Tuesday. The ss Wakatu arrived from Lyttelton and Xaikoura at 5.30 on Tuesday evening. She -returned on Wednesday. The N.Z.S. Co’s barque Port Sonachan, 1115 tons, which was built in December, 1885, ia loading at London on behalf of the Company. A new warship called the Australia, for the British Navy, was launched from the yard of Messrs Napier, at Glasgow, on November 25th. She is 300 ft long, carries very powerful armament, and has a speed of 19 knots an hour. THE JESSIE BE ADM AN FEOM LIVERPOOL. The ship Jessie Headman, from Liverpool, was brought in early on Monday morning, and came alongside the Queen’s Wharf at mid-day. The following is Captain Gibson’s report : —Left Liverpool on the 4th October, crossed the Equator on 9th November, passed the meridian of the Cape on the 7th December, and Tasmania on 3rd inst; made Cape Farewell on Saturday, Wellington Heads on Sunday evening, and came in as above. Had fair average weather after.the first 14 days, during which severe weather -was experienced. The captain also states that a ship supposed to have been the N.Z.S. Co.’s Hurunni, bound from London to Wellington, was sighted, but was not near enough to be properly made out, Sighted also the Barossa (London to Adelaide) on 13th December, spoke the Hermione (64 •days out from London for Auckland) on sth December, and Sierra Miranda (Liverpool to Calcutta) 49 days out. _ Messrs Levin and Co., are agents for the Jessie Headman. DEPARTURE OF THE SHIP TUEAKINA, FOR LONDON. The N.Z.S. Co’s ship Turakina, 11S9 tons, 'Captain Power, took in the last of her cargo ((some frozen meat) yesterday morning, and sailed for London last evening. She took a full cargo of wool, frozen meat, &c.,_as per export list above, and will probably, witty fair winds, reach England toward the end of April. ARRIVAL OF THE NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY’S SHIP HTJRUNUT. The Hurunui, from London, arrived off the heads at about mid-day on Wednesday, and was -towed into harbor by the Mana, and anchored. She left London on the 13th of October, and Gravesend, where she took in 15 tons powder, on the 14th. Landed the pilot at Dover on the 14th, in the evening. She was obliged to .put back from Beachy Head to the Downs, on account of a strong gale from the SSW. _ Left the Downs on the 18th, and was off the Lizards •on the 21st, whence she took her final departure ■She experienced moderate weather and favorable winds to the Equator, which she crossed •on the 13th November in 13deg 12min west. She sighted Trinidad on the 23rd, and doubled the Cape on the Bth December. She met with fine weather running the easting down, and was abreast of the Leeuwin’s on the 27th December, and arrived off the New Zealand coast on the 6th inst. Thence head winds kept her trashing at it till the 16th, when she got a slant of wind, passed Farewell, and experienced thick, foggy weather through the Straits, arriving as above. She was to discharge her powder yesterday, and then berth at the wharf. She reports having spoken the following vessels: The ship John Bunyan, 10 days from Cardiff to Capetown ; barque Kingdom of Sweden, 19 days from London to Brisbane; the ship F. L. Cann, bound for New York; barque Glenlora, 49 days from Iquique to England. The captain reports all on board in good health.
