CASES UNDER LICENSING ACT.
(united press association.) Auckland, December 4. At the Police Court a number of charges were Dreferred against publicans for breaches of the Licensing Act. That against Henry Albert Fisber for deserting his premises, the Albion Hotel, was resumed. After hearing the evidence, his Worship said, with regard to two informations against Fisher, it seemed that there had been a breach of the 120th section of the Act, but the whole thing had apparently arisen out of a misunderstanding. It was possible to impore a penalty, but he did not think the case called for the infliction of a fine in pursuance of the above-named section. Those two informations would be dismissed on the grounds mentioned. With regard to the charge of selling liquor without a license preferred against Mr Downing, a technical breach of the 150th section had been committed, and under the circumstances a nominal penalty would meet the case. A fine of Is with costs was imposed. Three other publicans, charged with Sunday trading, got off, the cases being dismissed.
