THE WANKARINGA GOLDFIELD.

By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.

(reuter’s telegrams.)

Adelaide, October 29.

Reports of the Wankaringa goldfields, which have been received from Teetulpa, are on the whole satisfactory, though no important developments have occurred.

Adelaide, November 1.

Latest accounts from Teetulpa report that nuggets are being found on the Wankaringa goldfield, but that the washing is unsatisfactory. Adelaide, November 2.

News has been received from Teetulpa of the finding of a 30oz nugget on the Waukaringa goldfield. 'The warden of Teetulpa states that a large quantity of nuggets are being found, but that the diggers on the field decline to give information as to their earnings. Gold is being found in the cement. The authorities deprecate a. rush to Waukaringa. (Pier Manapouri at the Bluff.) (united pbess association.) Adelaide,. October 27. The rush to Teetulpa is subsiding, and anumber of men are returning to Adelaide daily, dissatisfied with the field, bnt these are mostly men who are unfitted for a prospecting life, and who had no outfit to enable them to prosecute the industry in a thorough manner. Many men of mining experience were staying to-prospect thoroughly, and an idea prevails that it will prove a good reefing country. Fourteen samples of gold were washed at the Government cradle on Tuesday. Three were noc payable, but the other eleven gave results varying from a half ounce to one and a-half ounces per ton. Everything points to the conclusion, however, that the surface gold is pretty well exhausted, and the miners should be very careful to obtain full information before joining the rush. The Premier visited the field last week and‘inspected the washing. He states that the diggings are worth trying, but that .it ia useless for inexperienced men to proceed there.- Firewood' hr very scarce, and.

water has to be carried a mile and a half for cooking purposes. Experienced miners concur in stating that the number of men on the field is greater than the claims can support, and a re-action is feared. The route from Adelaide to the diggings is by tram to Leerowie, on the line to Silverton, hence by the contractor’s line to Manhill, which is within 25 miles of the diggings. . At Manhill is » large hotel capable of accommodating 50 people. The railway fare from Adelaide to Manhill ia 365.
