The French press, in replying to recent articles in leading English newspapers on the European situation, deny that France is seeking war and intriguing against England. They state that the tendency of the French Government i 3 toward peace, and that the armaments are being attended to merely for defensive and not offensive measures. The newspaper Le Temps, in ‘an article to-day, deplores the rivalry and jealousy of the English press, and urges journals of a serious tone to strive to improve the relations between England and France.
