LATEST COMMERCIAL NEWS.
Christchurch, September 29.. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report per Mr E. G. Staveley as follows : At Addington yards to-day there were 7000 sheep and average entries of pigs and cattle. Fat sheep improved, best wethers bringing 16s to 19s 9d ; ewes and mixed sexes 11s to 15s 3d ; merino wethers 10s to 13s 9d ; prime mutton 3d per lb. There was a good demand for store sheep. Forward wethers brought 11s and Us 9d ; mixed 4-tooth crossbreds 9s 9d to 10s Gd ; crossbred hoggets 7s 4d to 9s 3d ; forward merino wethers 7s Id ; fat lambs 7s 6d to 12s 6d. There was a fair demand for fat cattle. Bullocks brought L 8 to LlO 15s. Prime beef brought 23s per 100 lbs. There was a good enquiry for fresh store cattle. Forward steers brought L 4 10s to L 5 each. There was .a moderate entry of pigs. Values were unchanged. Dunedin, September 29.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report (per Mr D. Stronach) as follows : Cattle—lß2 head were, yarded. Best bullocks brought LlO to Ll 3 ; light and medium to good L 4 10s to L 9 10s ; beef 25s per 100 lbs. Sheep—39s3 were penned. Best crossbreds brought 14s to 10s ; 3 pens to 17s 9d; medium to good 7s 9d to 13s 6d ; merino wethers Ss Gd to 12s 9d; 3 pens to 14s 6d ; mutton Igd to 2d per lb. There were 187 pigs. Stores brought 7s to 15s ; porkers 16s to 25s ; baconers 27s to 355.
