Melbourne, September 8. Private telegrams received in Melbourne report that the London.colonial wool sales opened yesterday to an unusually large attendance of Home and foreign buyers. The ■market was active at an advance of from 15 per cent to 20 per cent on the closing prices of last sales. The total .quantity available for thß present series is 2655©00 bales, of which ISIOiOOO bales are Australian wools. London, September 7. The third series of the colonial ■wool Bales opened to-day before a large attendance of buyers. The .catalogue comprised 13,000 bales, for which there was a brisk competition, fhe prices ranged from one half-penny ;to two-pence higher than at the close of last >sales. Greasy showing an advance of one penny to three halfpence:; -scoured, two-pence ; coafse greasy crossbreds, one half-penny to one penny:; fine greasy crossbreds, ■one penny to three half-pence.

London, September 7. The third series of wool sales opened to - day., the catalogue comprising 13,000 bales. There was a large attendance of bidders, and competition was brisk. Crossbreds have advanced JO per cent, merinos 15 per cent, and Cape wools from to 3d. The total number of bales available for this series is 280,000.
