THE NEW HEBRIDES.

It is announced that, as a result of the parleying which has beeu proceeding between the British and French Governments, the latter has expressed its readiness to order the withdrawal of the French troops from the New Hebrides as soon as the present, emergency has passed. Melbourne, July 30. Mr Paton, who has been engaged in missionary work in the New Hebrides, had an interview with the Premier to-day on the subject of the French occupation of those islands. Mr Paton stated in the course of conversation, that the reported outrages upon French subjects by the Natives of the New Hebrides were unsubstantiated. London, July 30. The Australian Agents-General have had under consideration the recent assurances of the French Government regarding the New Hebrides,, and it is understood that it is generally agreed that the same are of a completely satisfactory character.
