COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 17th instant: —Wool —The sales closed firmly to-day. The following advances have taken place since close of last sales, viz. : —Greasy merino, 2d per lb ; clothing washed, 2|d to 3d ; combing washed, 2d to 2-ad ; scoured, 4d ; fine greasy crossbred, Id to Lg-d j fine
washed crossbred Id to l£d; fine scoured crossbred, Id to 1-^d; coarse greasy crossbred, to Id; coarse washed crossbred, id to Id; coarse scoured crossbred, Id ; and greasy crossbred lambs’, fd to Id. For merino lambs’ the market is firm. The total quantity sold during the past sales is 350,000 bales. 7000 bales have been held over for future disposal, 6000 bales have been taken for America, and 194,000 for the Continent. The outlook for the next sales is favorable. Tallow The market is firmer, and fine qualities are in good demand. Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received a cable message from their London friends, Messrs Saunderson, Murray, and Co., as follows: — “ London, 17th July. Wool sales have closed very firm.”
