The Colonial Treasurer, Mr Gillies, introduced his Financial Statement in tbe Legislative Assembly this evening. He estimates the revenue at L 6,970,000, and the expenditure at L 6,910,000. The revenue for the past financial year L 6,420,000, and the expenditure L 6,620,000; the actual surplus at the commencement of the current financial year being L 330,000. Mr Gillies proposes to increase the ad valorem duties upon woollen goods, piece woollens to 20 per cent., and made up woollens to 30 per cent.
