HOSPITAL MAINTENANCE.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND MAIL. Sir,—Apologising for again referring to the maintenance of the Hospital, but would it not be better than levying a poor rate to give a list or form to the firms and each emyloye to subscribe their mite per month ? Surely they would never miss it for such a laudable object. Would it not be well to get the seamen of the port to contribute a small amount per month ? It is the custom in America to deduct forty cents (la Bd') per month for the Hospital Fund. And, I guess, that with a Hospital Sunday would suffice to pay all claims against the Hospital, in■stead of levying the rate as proposed.—l am, &c., C. Granville. June 'lst, 1886.
