LAND BOARD.
The ordinary weekly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday at the offices, Provincial Buildings. There were present— Messrs H. Bunny (in the chair), G- Beetham, M.H.R., W. W. McCardle, and T. Mason. Schedule No. 158 of lands sold since the last meeting of the Board was read and approved. The following applications to capitalise the unpaid instalments were approved :—Messrs Manns and Barrows, section 16, and W. Wakeman, section 17, Blpck VIII, Mangahao. Mr Crombie reported on the value of improvements effected by Mr H. Nitz on section 5, Kawhata. It was decided to inform Mr Nitz that his application couid not be entertained. The Chief Surveyor reported that a survey of section 21, Paraitieke Block, appiied for by Mr Poison, had been made, the area being 47r Ir 24p, at an estimated value of not less than £1 per acre, the cost of survey being £5 163 4d. It was agreed to include this land in the next sale, the price to be £1 per acre, and improvements to be added to the total price. A proposal from the Kiwitea Road Board for the expenditure of the deferred payment thirds was considered and agreed to. A report was received from Mr Greville on the quality, &c., of the Crown lands near the Hawkes Bay boundary line and adjoining the Woodville-Tirauinea Special Settlement Block. The matter was allowed to stand over till the road routes are supplied. Mr McCardle brought before the Board the question of the sale of pieces of Crown land fronting sections 1 to 6, Eketahuna. It was decided to bring the matter up at the next meeting of the Board. Mr McCardle also moved that Mr Marchant be requested to report on the question of the portion of the Pahiatua Township reserve lying between the stream and the surveyed section. This was agreed to. Mr McCardle gave notice of a motion re the sale of Crown lands between Eketahuna and Hastweirs clearing. The meeting then adjourned.
