To the Editor of the Auckland Herald and New Zealand Gazette. Trustees of the Auckland Printing Company, v. John Moore. Sir.—-A statement purporting to be a report oi the proceedings at the Police Office, in the above cas-, having appeared in the Publication called the Auckland Chronicle, of Thursday last, in which allusion lias been made to me under an assumed name, and in no very courteous terms. 1 wish to state thro' the medium of your Journal that the report in question is purely an exparte one, and I think published with the sole view of prejudicing the defendant in Public opinion, the expression attributed to me 1 never used, and there was no allusion to the terms of the arbitration with which the Rbporter of the Chronicle seems so familiar —he could not plead ignorance of my name, and the substitution was but a wretched expedient to serve private views ; the Editor of a Public Journal neither consults his own interest or the character of his Paper by making either it or himself a tool to serve individual interests. Yuor insertion of this will oblige. I am, Sir, Your obedient servanl, THOMAS E. CONRY. Auckland, 3rd Dec. 184 U
