SALARY INCREASE
UNIVERSITY STAFFS FROM £2O TO £75 A YEAR The Government has approved of increases in salary to full-time employees of the University of New Zealand and the colleges, and a grant already has been made to cover additional pay as from June 30 last, according to advice received from the Director of Education at a meeting of the Auckland University College Council yesterday. There are three main scales for the various tvpes of employees. The smallest increase "is £2O a year for members of teaching staffs of university and agricultural colleges who are in receipt of £9O and under a year and the increases rise to £75 a year for those receiving £490 a year and over. Male and female members of clerical staffs, typists and female office assistants also receive higher pay ranging from £2O a year for those on up to £IOO a year to £75 in the case of those receiving £490 and over. The third scale relates to male office assistants and temporary clerks, whose increases range from £2O to £4O a vear. Increases of £3O if the rate is not above £3OO are to be paid to librarians, cataloguers, laboratory assistants, technicians and instrument makers, caretakers and groundsmen. If their salaries are above £3OO increases as for the clerical scale are to be made. Part-time teachers are to receive a j 10 per cent addition to their present
