BOWLING OPENINGS
Nicholson Park Ladies.—The president, Mrs E. M. Mills, welcomed the members and visitors, among whom were Mr R. J. Mills, Mayor of Mount Eden and patron of the dub, and Mrs Mills, and also a lady bowler from Australia. Mrs R. J. Mills delivered the jack and E. A. Reynolds the first bowl. Papakura.—Presentations at the opening of the club were made to Mr J. Cooper, former secretary, and to Mr A. Hammond, one of the oldest members, who recently left the district BASEBALL IN AMERICA (Herd. 0.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 0 Cardinals won the world series baseball championship by 1 games to 'J. defeating Browns, 3—l. in the sixth srame. The winning pitcher was Lanier, and the losing pitcher Potter. The final score was: Cardinals, 3 runs, lo hits. 0 errors; Browns, 1 run, 3 hits, 2 errors.
