MILITARY WEDDING
PARKER—BAYLISS The marriage of Miss Barbara Annette Bayliss, second daughter of ]\lr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Bayliss, Disraeli Street, Mount Eden, to Sergeant Jack Vincent Parker (on furlough), only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Parker, Grand Avenue, Mount Albert, took place on Saturday evening at St. Barnabas Church, Mount Eden. The Rev. G. R. Monteith officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of white organdie, with bands of organdie embroidery trimming the bodice, sleeves and very full skirt. A spray of white carnations and blue delphiniums held her tulle veil in place, and her shower bouquet, which fell to the hem of her frock, was of the same flowers. The bridesmaids, Missee Joan and Pauline Bayliss, wore picture frocks of seagreen organza, trimmed with self ruchings. Deep red carnations in their hair matched the sheaves which they carried. Serjeant Jock Melville was best man, Lieutenant lan McCartney groomsman, and Sergeants R. Kidd and R. Jenner were ushers. All four are on furlough, having left with the bridegroom in the First Echelon. After the ceremony a reception, followed by a dance, was held at the Mount Eden Tea Kiosk. MARRIED AT TRIPOLI AUCKLAND BRIDEGROOM Details have just been received from the Middle East of the wedding at the Tripoli Parish Church of Miss Myra Maister. elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Maister, of Ternuka, South Canterbury, to Lieutenant L. M. Atkinson,
of the First Echelon, younger son of Mrs. M. Atkinson and the late Mr. Atkinson, of Remuera, Auckland, lhe ceremony was performed by Padre Raines, and the bride was escorted by Colonel Gower, Officer Commanding the Third New Zealand Hospital. The bride, who has served for three years with the New Zealand Army Nursing Service in Egypt, Syria and at Tripoli, was attended by Sister Clarisse Leslie. Both bride and bridesmaid wore white frocks with their scarlet army nurses' capes and white veils, and both carried bouquets of red and white carnations and rosebuds. The best man was Captain Denis Chapman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the hospital mess, where Matron Chisholm acted as hostess. ROMANCE IN CAIRO (N.Z.E.F. Official War Correspondent) CAIRO. Dec. 3 A New Zealand officer recently repatriated from Germany, Captain Lawrence George Williams, elder son ■ of Mrs. E. Williams, St. Alban's, Christchurch, has been married in Cairo. His bride was Miss Muriel Esther Christine Smith, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith, Tirau, Auckland.
