BOY'S LIFE SAVED

GRASPED LIVE WIRE PARENTS' PROMPT ACTION (0.c.) HASTINGS, Monday The presence of mind of a father and a knowledge of artificial respiration by a mother saved the life of their small son in Hastings yesterday. The boy was Colin Rcid, aged six, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Heid, York Road, Hastings. He had climbed to the roof of their house and gripped an exposed electric wire. Mrs. Heid heard her son gasp and saw him fall on to the roof. She called to Mr. Reld, who came quickly, disconnected the wire, and brought his son down. "He was not breathing," said Mrs. Reid. "but I knew something of artificial respiration from girl guiding and home nursing. I applied it. and after a time. he started to breathe." The parents then took their son to the Memorial Hospital. The boy is suffering from severe burns to the hands.
